Root canal therapy can save your tooth and help you regain a healthy smile. Our dentists may recommend a root canal if the inner nerves and tissues of your tooth have become infected or have been injured.

Root canal treatment is a type of endodontic therapy. It is typically required when injury or decay reach deep into the tooth, past the outer layer of protective enamel and into the dental pulp. If untreated, this type of injury can cause the tooth to die and lead to a tooth extraction. Root canal therapy removes the infected and injured tissues to prevent the need for removal.

At Dental Doctors of Somerset, Dr. Michael Egan and Dr. Ana Fernandez use state-of-the-art lasers when performing a root canal. By using laser-assisted irrigation to clean and sterilize the inside of the tooth, our dentists can sterilize your entire root canal system in just 20 minutes. This laser and attachment create beyond-ultrasonic waves inside the tooth, which rupture damaging bacteria in under a minute to produce optimal results. After the tooth has been cleaned and sterilized, we will fill it with a medicated material and cap it with a dental crown to complete your treatment.

Your procedure can be completed in a single visit thanks to the advanced laser used in the procedure and the CEREC one-visit restoration technology featured in our office. Our dentists and team will also work with you to minimize pain and discomfort so that you feel at ease during your procedure.
